Additionally , psychologicaldisorders are the major cause of disability in the U .S . and Canada for ages 15-44 . Lots of people suffer from more than one mental problem at a given time . Just about half ( 45 percent ) of those with any specific mental problemmeet criteria for 2 or more disorders , with severity highly related to comorbidity . 
In the U .S . , psychological disorders are analyzed based on the Diagnostic and also Statistical Manual of Psychological Disorders , 4th edition ( DSM-IV ) .
